Eastwood Village's History
Eastwood Village was started in
1979 and grew out of a need in the developer's family. The McKeithan family
began in the long-term care service in 1964 and in the early 70's, Iris
McKeithan, the original founder had a heart attack. As a result she was not
able to work after that and began to need some supportive services. Her son,
Mack, took over the family business at that point and continues as the CEO
today.
Mrs. McKeithan did not want to lose her investment in her home, nor did she
want to enter a rental situation. She also didn't want to pay up front for
services she may or may not need. So, Eastwood Village was designed to meet
all of those needs.
Today, Eastwood Village is spread over 16 acres and consists of 31 homes. Most
homes are duplexes and all have two bedrooms and one, one and a half, or two
baths. All homes have carports or garages and convenient outside storage
facilities. The homes range in size from around 1,000 sf to over 1,500 sf.
They are spread out so each home has a private gardening area. In the center
of the Village is a clubhouse and a swimming pool. There are also shuffleboard
courts and a large workshop. And, Mrs. McKeithan still lives in the Village.
